JDFF was delighted to attend the 2016 Global Citizen event in Montreal last week. It was an amazing concert with performers like Usher, Sam Roberts, and The Roots.
The Global Fund, a host of the concert, rallied the support of governments and private donors around the world for an investment of $12.9 billion into the fight against infectious diseases like HIV, TB, and malaria.
The US government was the single biggest donor with $4.6 billion; Bill Gates, who we were honored to meet at the event, committed $600 million.
We also had the privilege of meeting Canada’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau and Kathryn Everett, COO of Artists for Peace and Justice; an incredible organization that supports communities in Haiti through programs in education, healthcare, and dignity through the arts.
