On April 1, 2023 we were honored to attend the Gateway Celebrity Fight Night 2023. This is such an incredible night that unites celebrities, artists, actors and individuals from all walks of life in the fight against cancer. We look forward to it every year!
This year, the theme was inspired by Studio 54 and was a chance to raise funds for cancer research. We heard from researchers and patients whose lives had been directly impacted by Gateway for Cancer Research’s work. The gala was hosted and emceed by 16-time Grammy Award winning producer and friend, David Foster, who has served as the event’s musical director for 22 years. There were incredible musical performances from Earth, Wind & Fire; Nile Rodgers & CHIC; Taylor Dayne; Thelma Houston; The Sugarhill Gang; Katharine McPhee; and the most amazing performance from neon and LED dance troupe Light Balance! What a fun night!
Everyone came together to raise funds for Phase I and Phase II cancer trials, the types of clinical studies at high risk of going unfunded. The best part of the night was over $3 million were raised to go towards these funds! 100% of event proceeds will directly fund these early phase clinical cancer research, which often mark the first-in-human studies of promising new cancer drugs, devices, and therapies.
